Application

Recombinant Proteinase K is capable of cleaving peptide bonds at the carboxyl end of aliphatic and aromatic amino acids. It is commonly used for pre-treatment of RNA or high molecular weight DNA prior to pulse electrophoresis. It is also employed to terminate certain enzyme-catalyzed reactions, such as phosphorylation and nucleic acid digestion, by degrading enzymes in the reaction system to ensure their inactivation.
