Description

Cytokeratin 5/6 are high molecular weight keratins, which are normally expressed in squamous epithelium, basal cells of ductal epithelium, mesothelial cells, myoepithelium and basal cells of prostate, but not in glandular epithelium. Most adenocarcinoma are negative, and some adenocarcinoma can be weakly positive. The antibody is mainly used for the differential diagnosis of mesothelioma and adenocarcinoma, as well as the study of benign and malignant tumors of epithelial origin.

Other Name

The antibody can recognize both human CK5 and CK6 protein, and shows no cross reaction with other typies of cytokeratin. In western blotting of A431 cell lysate, there shows a 56 kDa band dectected by the antibody.

Specificity

The antibody is provided in liquid form in phosphate-buffered saline with 50% glycerol, 0.05% BSA, and 0.05% Proclin 300.
