Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a serine-threonine kinase, belonging to the glycogen synthase kinase subfamily. It is involved in energy metabolism, neuronal cell development, and body pattern formation. Polymorphisms in this gene have been implicated in modifying risk of Parkinson disease, and studies in mice show that overexpression of this gene may be relevant to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Immunogen
A synthetic phosphorylated peptide around Y216&Y279 of human GSK3β/GSK3α.
Specificity
The antibody detects endogenous levels of GSK3β protein only when phosphorylated at Tyr216 and GSK3α protein phosphorylated at Tyr279. The antibody does not cross-react with GSK3β and GSK3α phosphorylated at other sites.
Formulation
The antibody is provided in liquid form in phosphate - buffered saline with 50% glycerol, 0.05% BSA, and 0.09% Sodium azide.
Purification
The antibody was purified by protein A affinity chromatography.
