Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a serine-threonine kinase, belonging to the glycogen synthase kinase subfamily. It is involved in energy metabolism, neuronal cell development, and body pattern formation. Polymorphisms in this gene have been implicated in modifying risk of Parkinson disease, and studies in mice show that overexpression of this gene may be relevant to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Immunogen
A synthetic phosphorylated peptide around S21&S9 of human GSK3α/GSK3β.
Specificity
The antibody detects endogenous levels of GSK3α protein only when phosphorylated at Ser21 and GSK3β protein phosphorylated at Ser9. The antibody does not cross-react with GSK3α and GSK3β phosphorylated at other sites.
Formulation
The antibody is provided in liquid form in phosphate - buffered saline with 50% glycerol, 0.05% BSA, and 0.05% proclin300.
Purification
The antibody was purified by protein A affinity chromatography.
