Confocal imaging of C2C12 cells using BNIP3L Rabbit mAb (M0258, dilution 1:200) followed by a further incubation with Cy3 Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) (SA1138, dilution 1:500) (Red).The cells were counterstained with α-Tubulin Mouse mAb (W0051, dilution 1:400) followed by incubation with 488-conjugated Goat anti-Mouse IgG (H+L) (SA0662, dilution 1:500) (Green).DAPI was used for nuclear staining (Blue).Objective: 100x.

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the pro-apoptotic subfamily within the Bcl-2 family of proteins. The encoded protein binds to Bcl-2 and possesses the BH3 domain. The protein directly targets mitochondria and causes apoptotic changes, including loss of membrane potential and the release of cytochrome c.
